Mediation Services Available in the Maricopa County Superior Court
The Maricopa County Superior Court offers family mediation services. The court’s website states:
“Mediation is offered by the Superior Court under the authority of Arizona law (ARS §12-2238(F) and Maricopa County local rule 6.10. Mediation provides an opportunity for parents to make their own decisions about their children following separation or divorce. In Maricopa County, mediation of custody and visitation disputes is encouraged by the judges of the Family Court Department; in fact it is required in most Family Court actions where disputes over children are involved.”

The court also offers family conciliation services:
Conciliation Counseling is offered by the Superior Court under the authority of Arizona law (ARS§ 25-381) for married parties who are considering or who are in the process of divorce. The focus of this brief counseling is to assist parties in making an informed and thoughtful decision regarding their marital relationship. Upon completion of the counseling, the parties may be referred to community-based counseling services for further assistance if they indicate such an interest.

The Association for Conflict Resolution regional chapter also provides mediation services in Arizona. Their website states “We are a multidisciplinary organization whose members participate in dispute resolution in a large range of areas such as divorce and family disputes, workplace conflicts, commercial disputes, community conflicts, civil rights matters, and teaching conflict resolution in the schools. The organization works to promote the professionalism of dispute resolvers, to sponsor research leading to the development of innovative dispute resolution techniques and procedures, and to serve as a clearinghouse of information in the field of dispute resolution in Arizona.” The link to the Arizona website is:
